Dublin City PPN and the Dublin City Volunteer Centre are organising a workshop on Corporate Governance and GDPR Compliance which will be held in the Woodquay Venue on Saturday 10th March from 10am – 3pm. Registration will start at 9.30am.
The workshop will have two distinct themes, it will provide participants with an insight into governing a charity and/or company limited by guarantee and with their compliance obligations under the GDPR.
Workshop Part 1: Getting Ready for the General Data Protection Regulation
The data protection regulation commonly referred to as the ‘GDPR’, will come into force throughout the EU and EEA on May 25th, 2018. This regulation is highly significant for any organisation who handles or monitors the personal data of individuals within the EU and EEA. The regulation aims to:
Safeguard the personal data privacy rights of individuals.
Heighten accountability for how personal data is acquired and handled.
The GDPR applies to all organisations (and sole traders) who:
Collect, share and use the personal data of EU/EEA residents; or, who
Offer goods and services to, or monitors EU/EEA residents.
The 3 hour “Getting Ready for the GDPR” workshop run by CramdenTECH provides a practical insight in the actions that community and voluntary groups should be taking to help their organisation comply with the Regulation. Key topics include:
Why the GDPR is necessary
Data Protection Principles
Strengthening the Rights of Individuals (data subjects)
Keeping data secure
Documenting compliance with the GDPR – reviewing policies and procedures
Specific issues applicable to non-profit groups e.g. fundraising, direct marketing
