Social Justice Ireland (SJI) invite you to their annual policy conference online, on Wednesday 13 November from 9.30am – 12.00pm Of particular interest to PPNs will be Matthew Donoghue’s presentation on preliminary reflections on recent research on PPNs and local policymaking.  Matthew Donoghue is an assistant professor of social policy in the school of social policy, social work and social justice in University College Dublin (UCD).  You can register for this FREE event here.

The BETA festival invite you to an event on Thursday 07 November, called “Facing the Future:  Let’s talk facial recognition technology” at the Digital Depot, From 6.00pm – 8.00pm and you can register for the event here.  The event is with Dr Ciara Bracken-Roche and Dr Emma Clarke.

The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland (ASI) invite carers and supporters of people with Alzheimer’s to attend “Insights into Dementia – Informing and Empowering Family Carers” courses either online or in person in Dublin from 04 November onwards.  You can read more about these courses and other training sessions from ASI here.

The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA), invite you to their Family Learning Conference on 27 November from 9.30am – 3.15pm at the Richmond Centre in Smithfield.  You can access the full list of speakers and workshops from the programme and register for this FREE event here.

Anam Cara invite you to a Bereavement Information Evening, with guest speaker, Diane Clabby on 07 November, at 7.00pm.  This is an information evening for parents whose child has died, and the meeting registration details are here.

Crumlin Clean-up and Bloomin Crumlin invite you to an event on Saturday 02 November, from 10.30am – 3.30pm to map trees!  The day incudes talks from Dublin City Council Tree Officer, Pocket Forests and Woodlands of Ireland, followed by a world-café style workshop to discuss data collected so far, and working out solutions for more trees and greening in the local area.  The workshop takes place at D12 Y3Y6

All Together in Dignity (ATD) invite you to an event called, “Community Conversations” which will launch ATD’s most recent film, at Exchange House Ireland, 61 Great Strand Street, D01 WC97  Community Conversations takes place on Monday 04 November, and all PPN member groups are welcome.  The PPN has signed up to the campaign to #addthe10th, which is a campaign to add socio-economic discrimination to Irish legislation and this will also be discussed on 04 November.

Dublin City Council (DCC), invite member groups of Dublin City PPN to submit their views on its new Corporate Plan 2025 – 2029, to help form a vision and set ambitious goals for the city and communities.  The consultation is open until Wednesday 30 October.  This is the first public survey to be hosted on DCC’s new consultation platform, and you can make a submission for your member group here.

Training and Events

Northwest Partnership invite you to a three-day Funding Expo at the Deaf Village, Ratoath Road, D07 V4KP.

  • Wednesday 06 November, 2.00pm – 4.00pm:  The Ireland Fund Presentation:  building an area profile for your application.  Register here.
  • Thursday 07 November, 6.00pm – 8.00pm:  Dublin City Council and Dublin Northwest Partnership Presentation:  Project Management.  Register here.

The PPN Plenary will take place on Thursday 21 November, from 6.30pm – 8.30pm (venue to be confirmed).  Further details and registration to come, please save the date

In addition, Dublin City PPN we will be holding two training days (one online and one in person) for PPN Representatives and Secretariat on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 November…further details to come.  But please do save the date (s).

Updates from the Secretariat and Representatives

The PPN has three main objectives:  to share information and offer capacity building training to member groups, so that they can participate more in local authority decision making.  To that end, the PPN has nominated and elected PPN representatives across 7 Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs), Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) and Joint Policing Committee (JPC).  You can read more about the committees that align with your work, here.
