Steven Doody, from the PPN Secretariat, would like to bring PPN Member Groups’ attention to the opportunities from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland.  They have a National Call for Applications, to find people with bold ideas to tackle Ireland’s social and environmental challenges until 28 April, and you can find out more about this national campaign here.

The Liberties April 2025 newsletter has been uploaded to the PPN website, for ease of access.  You can read it or download it here.

Notice of a public consultation:  Dublin City Council’s Planning, Property and Economic Development Department has prepared a non-statutory draft masterplan, to address opportunities for urban regeneration for lands located at Dublin Industrial Estate and environs, Dublin 7 and Dublin 11.  Public information sessions are taking place on Tuesday 29 April and Thursday 01 May at Cabra Parkside Community Sports Centre.  Please go here for more information about the public information sessions, and how to make a submission.

Dr Valesca Lima’s report, on Migrant Housing Needs, has been published on the Housing Agency’s website here

A crucial new report, “Access to adequate housing: understanding the housing needs of migrants,” authored by Dr Valesca Lima from Dublin City University and funded by the Housing Agency, is now available, shedding light on the critical housing challenges faced by migrants in Ireland and making recommendation on areas that need more attention in relation to migrants access to decent housing.

PPN Training (and support)

The next “New Members Meet-Up” will take place on the last Tuesday of the month, which is 29 April, from 7.00pm – 8.00pm

This short online introductory session is meant to let new members know a little about the PPN’s structure, purpose, and activities.  Please email Siobhán to secure your spot if you would like to attend:

We offer these sessions on the last Tuesday of every month.

Clare O’Connor’s recent PPN presentation, on “how to make an effective submission” has been uploaded to the website here as a word document.  These interesting, helpful, and useful recommendations are a guide and starting point, for anyone interested in making a submission on a public consultation.

Dublin City University (DCU) department of Law and Government, invite PPN members to the Martin McEvoy 2025 Conference, taking place at the All Hallows Campus on Tuesday 29 April.  The introduction of a directly-elected mayor for Dublin has been a recurring topic of debate in politics and policy circles. Recent efforts to introduce the measure have had widespread endorsement from the recent Citizens’ Assembly, the Oireachtas, citizens, communities and many political parties but have failed to be implemented. The Martin McEvoy Conference 2025 will examine how such a reform might work in practice and how a new model of political leadership, new institutional structures, delegated powers in key areas such as planning, education, enterprise and economic development, childcare, climate action, and public safety might work and how new taxation and finance raising powers might be operationalised.

Further details about the FREE registration here.
