Community, Gaeilge, Sport, Arts and Culture SPC

The following areas fall under the responsibility of the Community, Gaeilge, Sport, Arts and Culture Strategic Policy Committee:

Arts, Culture, Archive and Libraries, Community Development, Biodiversity, Commemorations, Galleries and Museum, Irish Language, Music, Parks, open spaces and natural environment, Sports and Recreation Centres, Sports Development, School Meals, Control of Horses and Dogs, Casual trading and street performers

Current policy issues discussed at meetings are:

Proposed new City Library at Parnell Square; Review of Casual Trading (Control and designation) Bye Laws; Sport Health and Wellbeing Partnership; City Development Plan.

There are a minimum of five meetings a year, held every two months on the 2nd Monday of the month at 9.30 a.m. Generally there are no meetings in July and August.

PPN Representation:

2 seats either from the Community or Social Inclusion Pillars

Role of the PPN Representative:

  • Attends and participates at the committee they were elected to.
  • Represents the views and concerns of members to the relevant policy committee
  • Represents all the members of the PPN and not just their own group
  • Feeds back to the PPN membership through reports, presentations and meetings (linkage meetings)

Meetings:
