Information
Congratulations to the PPN Host, Dublin City Volunteer Centre (DCVC), on their office move from Aungier Street, to The Connolly Building (42/43 Amiens St). The PPN wishes them every success in their new home and looks forward to watching them support responsible and responsive volunteering, from the new premises.
Some of the DCVC staff will be at the Dublin City LinkedIn offices from 11.00am – 3.00pm on 21 January, alongside several volunteer involving organisations. Come along, if you would like to find out more, about suitable volunteering options.
The Department of Rural and Community Development and Gaeltacht (DRCDG), would like to share the national PPN Annual Report, from 2024, and you can access it on the DRCDG website here.
The City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB), is delighted to open the Reach Fund for 2026 applications. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend a live, online information session for support on applying to the Reach Fund. There is an information session on Thursday 15 January at 2.00pm. Further details here.
Tusla Child and Family Agency would like to reach out to PPN member groups, about fostering. As you may be aware there is currently a national shortage of foster carers in Ireland. Ideally, children should be fostered in their own community, so that they can continue with the same schools, clubs, and friends. If you think you could foster, and would like more information, contact Valerie McGuinness through her email: or visit the website here.
Training
New members meetup – an introduction to the PPN on the last Tuesday of the month (27 January, 2026). This one hour, online, general introduction session is for member groups that have recently joined the PPN. However, those people who would like a “refresher” about the core work of the PPN, are also more than welcome.
Please email Siobhán at for the zoom link.
The City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB), are delivering Climate Justice Education training, aimed at those working in adult and community education, or those facilitating groups in the community, on Friday 23 January. Updates from the PPN Representatives and Secretariat
The PPN Plenaries in 2026 will be held from 6.30pm – 8.30pm on the third Thursday in May and November. Please save both of those dates.
The PPN has three main objectives: to provide information and capacity building training to member groups, so that they can participate more actively in local authority decision making. To this end, we have 20 PPN representatives on several Dublin City Council committees, and they are there to improve the quality of life for the people who live, work, study and visit Dublin City. You can watch the Reps “in-action” at the committee meetings, on Dublin City Council’s web portal.
Further links and dates for the committee meetings below:
The Housing and Social Inclusion Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) met on Monday 12 January and you can watch this meeting back here. Your PPN Representatives on this committee are Mike Allen from Focus Ireland, Oisin O’Reilly from Outhouse and Sinead Murphy from Meeting Place Club.
The Finance SPC will meet on 15 January at 2.30pm and the Community, Gaeilge, Sport, Arts and Culture SPC will meet on 19 January at 9.30am. You can watch both meetings live, or back from the archives, here. If you would like to make comments, you can contact the Reps individually or go through the pillar working groups.
The PPN Secretariat meet on the second Tuesday of the month.
Please contact the PPN Staff, Ruth and Siobhán if you have any questions, suggestions or thoughts about the network.
