A Celebration of Cultures with the PPN Migrant/ Minority Group (MTG) at Dublin Learning City Festival
Dublin City PPN Migrant/ Minority Thematic Group (MTG) was thrilled to host an event as part of the annual Dublin Learning City Festival, which celebrates the spirit of lifelong learning throughout Dublin City. The theme for 2025’s festival was Create, Connect, Change, and festival organisers were passionate about creating opportunities for residents to meet new people, explore fresh ideas, and discover new ways to learn across Dublin. Over the course of three days festival attendees were treated to a diverse array of workshops, talks, presentations and engaging activities from various organisations, highlighting the power of knowledge and community.
On April 9th the PPN MTG held a vibrant and engaging event where they shared valuable intercultural knowledge. This event aimed to educate participants about the different cultures that contribute to making Dublin a richer and more inclusive place. Three PPN member groups took part, each bringing their unique cultural flair to the event:
Irland Ornoor Club introduced participants to the traditional Mongolian craft of writing. Attendees not only learned about this fascinating art form but also got to taste authentic Mongolian tea. The combination of activities created a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The Latvian Society in Ireland showcased traditional Latvian symbols, explaining the history and significance of each symbol, allowing attendees to delve deeper into Latvian culture. Participants had the chance to get creative, painting symbols onto stones and shells, which added a personal touch to their learning experience.
Veronica from Rather Gather/ Fusion Murga prepared delicious traditional Peruvian cookies. Participants enjoyed the opportunity to decorate these treats, which paired perfectly with the delicious Mongolian tea. The blend of flavours from different cultures created a memorable experience.
This event not only highlighted the importance of cultural exchange but also emphasized the joy of learning from one another, reflecting the festival’s theme of create, connect and change. The contributions of each member group showcased the rich mix of traditions that make Dublin a truly vibrant city. We look forward to more gatherings that foster intercultural understanding and community connection in the future!
