Social Inclusion Pillar Working Group (notes from the Plenary – May, 2025).

Before 2023, Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) representatives gathered feedback from linkage groups—bridges connecting SPCs and the wider PPN. However, by late 2023, feedback indicated that these linkage groups were not effectively meeting the needs of Dublin City PPN.

In response, pillar working groups were introduced—one for each pillar—to back the SPC representatives, facilitate discussion, and allow member groups to learn across SPC boundaries.

After the June 2024 local elections triggered new PPN elections, the refreshed team of representatives grounded the pillar group structure. One example: the Social Inclusion Pillar Working Group convened for a training and support session at Wynn’s Hotel, facilitated by Ellenora Lynch. They continue their dialogue via WhatsApp and reconvened in person at the May 2025 Plenary, discussing handout questions.

The Social Inclusion group is focused on:

  • Supporting their SPC representatives with ongoing issues
  • Streamlining work across multiple SPCs
  • Ensuring full representation for all rights-based organisations
  • Promoting self-care and wellness training for representatives engaged in demanding work

Next Steps: The Social Inclusion Pillar Working Group will meet again in September or October 2025, in advance of the upcoming Plenary.
