The Mobility and Public Realm Strategic Policy Committee take responsibility for the following areas:
Commercial & Goods Movement, Cycling, Environmental Traffic Planning, Facilitation of Public Transport, Parking Control & Enforcement, Pedestrian Facilities, Roads & Road Safety, Traffic Control & Management, Litter & Waste Management
Current policy issues discussed at meetings are:
Parking; Taxis; Speed Limits; Bye-Laws; LUAS Cross City Works; City Centre Transport Study; Liffey Cycle Route; Cycling and Walking Issues; Liffey Bridges; Public Lighting
There are a minimum of five meetings per year. They are held every two months usually on Wednesdays but dates and times are changeable. Generally there are no meetings in July or August.
PPN Representation:
The PPN has two seats on this committee, one from the Community Pillar and one from the Social Inclusion Pillar.
Role of the PPN Representative:
- Attends and participates at the committee they were elected to.
- Represents the views and concerns of members to the relevant policy committee
- Represents all the members of the PPN and not just their own group
- Feeds back to the PPN membership through reports, presentations and meetings (linkage meetings)
