Victim Support at Court (V-SAC)

Victim Support at Court or V-SAC, is the only voluntary service in Ireland dedicated solely to court accompaniment for victims of crime, their families and witnesses. They are at the forefront of delivering a high quality court accompaniment service within the Irish judicial system.

If you have been the victim of a crime, their court accompaniment service can help you while you attend court.

In this spotlight video about V-SAC we speak with three of their volunteer coordinators and volunteers to discuss their roles in supporting victims of crime while they are attending court.

The Dublin City PPN in the National Botanic Gardens

Ruth Powel and Beatriz Cintas Cantarero of the Dublin City PPN explain what a Public Participation Network is, how it works, how it benefits the local community, and how you can get involved.

The Dublin City PPN is the main link through which Dublin City Council connects with community and voluntary, social inclusion and environmental groups. The PPN will provide groups with:

Opportunities to influence decision making
Access to information – on finance, consultations, developments
Training
Opportunities to network with other groups
Community representation and organised engagement with Dublin City Council

The Five Lamps Arts Festival

The Five Lamps Arts Festival primary commitment is connecting the north inner city of Dublin with the arts and we achieve this through inclusivity, participation, environmental enhancement, and the creation and presentation of locally relevant, artistically ambitious work.

The Artistic Director, Róisín Lonergan and Project Manager, Marcela Parducci talk about the festival and their other work.

St Anne’s Pocket Park

A Pocket Park for Everyone. Built in Spring 2016 by the Community. Find out how the park was created, why, and how such a small piece of green space improved the community around it.

Meet some of the people who use the park and hear from the designer of the park. Also find out some of the special plants and areas of the park.

White Cane Audio Theatre

Sightless Cinema is audio theatre or radio drama devised by blind and visually impaired people with theatre deviser Ciarán Taylor. Sightless Cinema is presented with surround sound in cinemas, but with no pictures. Blind and sighted audiences share an experience without need for mediation.

Ciarán gives a behind the scenes tour of the history of the Theatre, how the audio productions are made, and how they are presented. He also talks about their recent productions and what they’re working on next.

The Fountain Resource Group

The Fountain Resource Group (FRG) is a non-profit community organisation providing a range of free community services in the Dublin 8 area. They employ an Enterprise Officer who provides advice and guidance to entrepreneurs.

Through the Community Employment Programmes, they employ upwards of forty people, working in carefully identified niches in the community.

They facilitated the establishment of an adult education programme in conjunction with the local schools and other providers in the South West Inner City.

A citizen information office was established by them to help local people with their needs, they publish a local digital newspaper, and assist the Senior Citizens with handling of their administration and employment of a mini-bus driver.
