Vote now!  The primary contacts from the PPN Community and Voluntary Pillar were last week invited to vote for a PPN Representative on the Mobility and Public Realm Strategic Policy Committee (SPC).  The ballot was sent via the soft wear Election Buddy and was only sent to the primary contact of each organisation.  If you have not received a ballot, please check with the primary contact of your organisation, check that you are in this pillar, and check that you have updated the PPN of any change of details.  The election closes Thursday 23 October.

See Her Elected invite you a FREE online election workshop designed to take the mystery out of running for election (in general, not specifically for the PPN seats).  These workshops are practical, useful, informative and helpful.  Everyone registering for the FREE online workshops will get access to the See Her Elected guide to running in the 2029 local elections, which is due for release in late November 2025.

Dr Fabian Sweeney, of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) invite people who have experienced loneliness, or social isolation to take part in a knowledge exchange event called, “Loneliness and Primary Care:  Connecting Research, Practice and Lived Experience” at the RCSI Dublin on Tuesday 28 October, at 1.00pm  The event will be followed by tea and coffee and you can email Dr Sweeney at for further details.

Amal Women Ireland launched their report “Community Profile of Muslim Women in Ireland and Needs Analysis” on Wednesday 16 October.  Attendees gained valuable insights into the experiences, challenges, and hopes of Muslim women, highlighting the need for inclusive community development and meaningful representation.  You can find Amal Women Ireland on Facebook and on their website.

The Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) invite you and your networks and organisations to a performance of Cinderella!  The show takes place from Wednesday 29 October – Saturday 01 November at 7.30pm or 2.00pm on a Saturday, at Inchicore College of Further Education.  Tickets and information about lots more events here.

PPN Training and Support Sessions

PPN member groups are invited to a FREE training session with Clare O’Connor on “how to write effective submissions for public consultations,” in person from 10.00am – 12.30pm in the Carmichael Centre, on Thursday 23 October.  And/or online from 7.00pm – 8.30pm on Thursday 23 October.  Please email Ruth before 3.00pm Tuesday 22nd, if you would like to attend either session.

Updates from PPN Representatives, and Secretariat

Please save the date:  the next Plenary will take place on Thursday 20 November at the Friends of the Elderly premises from 6.30pm – 8.30pm  This is your chance to learn about the PPN, meet other PPN member groups, find out more about the Secretariat, the pillar working groups, and the thematic groups.

The PPN has 21 Representatives on seven Dublin City Council Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs), and the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC).

Each representative comes from a pillar:  the community and voluntary pillar, or the social inclusion pillar, or the environmental pillar.  And these pillars have working groups. 

Consultant facilitator, Ellenora Lynch is offering support sessions to each of these pillar working groups throughout the autumn.
