- Thematic Groups
The next Disability Thematic Group meeting will take place on Monday 13 December. The group will be joined by Antonia Martin, from Dublin City Council, who will update everyone on the new Walking and Cycling Action Plan. The group is open to all, and for those who can’t attend, we will be updating our website with the minutes from these group meetings, after the next website upgrade.
The next Migrant Thematic Group meeting will be held on Wednesday 01 December from 7.00pm – 8.30pm Please contact Beatriz if you would like to attend the meeting (this group is for organisations working with migrant related issues).
- Planning and Urban Form Linkage Group Meeting
The next Planning and Urban Form linkage group meeting will take place on Wednesday 08 December from 6.00pm – 8.00pm Former Mayor, Andrew Montague will discuss making submissions to the council, with particular reference to the Dublin City Development Plan 2022 – 2028. The Draft Plan and its associated documentation can be viewed here and Stage 2 of the public consultation period ends at 4.30pm on 14 February 2022.

On 03 December, you can help turn Ireland purple and join the annual worldwide celebration to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This year’s theme is “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-Covid-19 world”. Further information about this campaign is here.
- National Transport Authority (NTA).
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has prepared an updated Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area based on feedback from earlier this year. This strategy sets out a framework for investment in transport infrastructure and services over the next two decades to 2042. You are invited to get involved for the next stage and you can find out more about the process here. The National Transport Authority (NTA) is also establishing a Transport Users Advisory Group and you can find out more about this group here.
- JAM Card
A small plastic card, about the size of a credit card, that can be used when out in public. The card says “Just a Minute” on one side, and you can choose which message you would like on the other side of your card: I have autism/Asperger’s, I have a condition, or I have dementia/memory problems. - Volunteer Ireland
Volunteer Ireland are conduction research into the quality of youth volunteering, which will inform the first European Quality Standards in youth volunteering. If you are involved in managing youth volunteering programmes, Volunteer Ireland would be very grateful if you could complete this short questionnaire here.
- Franzi, from Dublin City Volunteer Centre would like to share the following update:

As part of their new “The Experience Bank” project, Dublin City Volunteer Centre (DCVC) is looking for mature volunteer Community Ambassadors who are interested in supporting people in their local community to embark on their personal volunteering journey. Dublin City Volunteer Centre are also offering places on their Fundamentals of Volunteer Engagement Training. This is a new, 2 module, FREE online course, designed to meet the needs of volunteer managers in a changing world. This short course is excellent for those who are new to the topic of volunteer management and leadership, or who wish to improve their skillset.
