  • Creating Capable Communities online training (with the Department of Rural and Community Development/Social Justice Ireland & Waterford Institute of Technology).

We have six places for the next series of online training sessions with DRCD, Social Justice Ireland and Waterford Institute of Technology for stakeholders of the PPNs.

This training is valuable for anyone involved in the PPN, who wants to learn more about its structure, purpose, linkages with local authorities and government departments, and who would like to network more with Dublin City PPN, and other PPNs across the country.

The course is divided into seven online sessions (beginning on Monday 31 January at 2.00pm) and taking place every Wednesday from 1.00pm – 2.30pm from Wednesday 23 February until Wednesday 06 April.

Please contact Ruth if you, or someone from your group, would like one of the six places.

Many thanks to those who came along to the Planning and Urban Form linkage group meeting on Wednesday night, where former Andrew Montague delivered a presentation on how to make a submission to the council, with reference to the Dublin City Development Plan 2022 – 2028.  You are now invited to make submissions on the draft plan and the deadline for this is 14 February 2022.

While groups will no doubt make their own submissions on a variety of features and chapters, it would be wonderful if clusters of PPN member groups could make submissions together.  This could be organised in pillars, SPC interest groups, thematic groups or ad hoc.  Please contact Ruth if you would like to make a submission, and would like other PPN member groups to join you.  The potential for making four or five strong PPN submissions is exciting!

  • Disability Thematic Group meeting

The next Disability Thematic Group meeting will take place online on Monday 13 December, with guest speaker Deirdre Kelly from Dublin City Council, who will update the group about the councils’ Walking and Cycling Action Plan.  All welcome, and please contact Ruth if you would like the zoom link.

  • Migrant Thematic Group

Many thanks also, to those who came to our second Migrant Thematic Group. This group is open to all member groups involved in migrant, intercultural, and/or ethnic diversity issues and we will be holding another meeting for the group in Jan/Feb.  Please contact Beatriz if you would like more information.

  • Secretariat Monthly Meeting

The next Secretariat monthly meeting will take place on Tuesday 14 December via Zoom.  You can see the list of Secretariat members here or the full list of PPN representatives here.

  • Future Thinking Community Engagement Tool: 13 December

Rachel and Laurence from NCAD, are developing a game for imaginative and creative community development work and would like participants to engage in their pilot of this tool on 13 December.  Please email if you are interested in attending this online workshop.  This will be fun and interactive and useful for groups working with challenging issues.

  • PPN Communications
