Dublin City PPN member group, Dublin City Interfaith Forum (DCIF) has issued a statement on the Israel – Palestine conflict and you can read the full statement here.

Some Dublin City PPN Member Groups are included in the 160 + organisations to have signed an open letter from Irish civil society, for peace in Gaza.  You can read the open letter and, if you chose, sign the open letter here.

The Dublin City PPN host, Dublin City Volunteer Centre, would like to invite you to the Volunteer Management Conference in the Salesforce Tower on Tuesday 07 November here.  This is an exciting day of networking and learning for any organisation, that involves volunteers, in its work.

The Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD), are inviting Expressions of Interest for membership of the Sustainable Development Goals National Stakeholder Forum Committee 2024 Details of how to make an Expression of Interest, deadline and further details here.

The Department of Education, Research, Innovation and Science, the Department of Education and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth invite you to the Eighth National Forum on Education for Sustainable Development, on Friday 01 December, in the East Quad, TU Dublin, Grangegorman.  Registration details here.

Minister Joe O’Brien T.D. will be hosting a showcase event for the Community and Voluntary Sector on Climate Action on Tuesday 21 November, from 9.30am – 4.30pm, in the Hibernia Conference Centre in Dublin Castle.  Lunch will be provided, and you can register for this event here.

Tinnitus Eire invite you to an event called, “Sing your Tinnitus Story:  a co-creative poetry and chorus workshop” on Sunday 22 October, from 11.00am – 3.00pm at the Samuel Beckett Dance Studio, Trinity College Dublin.  Further information about this event and for people with tinnitus here.

Dublin City University (DCU) alongside its other partners, would like to inform you about its Erasmus + project, called Culture on Prescription.  The project aims to prevent and combat social isolation and loneliness through art and culture.  You can read up on the Successful Launch of Virtual Exchange Cycle Sparks Inspiration here.

Volunteer Ireland, and the network of Volunteer Centres (including DCVC), are developing two Volunteer Charters; one for organisations that work with volunteers and one for volunteers themselves.  You are invited to come along to a consultative workshop, to share your thoughts and comments at the times and dates below:

Cork Monday 23rd October 12-1pm

Wexford Wednesday 25th October 6.30-7.30

Leitrim Wednesday 1st November 4.30-5.30pm

Pobal Invite you to the launch of the Pobal HP Deprivation Index at Dublin Castle, 02 November.  Minister for Social Protection and Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD will officially launch the new Pobal HP Deprivation Index at the Conference.  Tickets and additional information here.

The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA), is hosting a free four-part webinar series for people working in the community and voluntary sector.  The webinars will cover topics such as raising literacy awareness, using literacy friendly approaches, health and literacy and plain English.  Further details and registration here.

This week’s online support training with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown PPN and Carmichael is all about WordPress:  this online session is from 12.00pm – 2.00pm and you can email Ruth for the zoom link and passcode.

Updates from the Representatives and Secretariat

Your environmental representative, Robert Moss, would like to share the following update with you here.  Robert is one of the Environmental Representatives and the link is to an article in the Journal, entitled, “It’s time for community groups to start thinking about developing district-heating schemes, council official says”.

The next Plenary will be held on Thursday 30 November, from 6.30pm – 8.30pm in the Gresham Hotel.  Places are limited and registration will open soon. 

The Migrant Thematic Group invite you to hear one of the best amateur choirs from Latvia, the “Maska” choir, performing in the heart of Dublin, next to the National Concert Hall, Adelaide Road, Saint Kevin’s, Dublin 2, D02 HP49.  The concert is on Monday 23 October at 8.00pm and the concert will also feature performances by the Latvian Society in Ireland Choir, “eLVe” which performed at the PPN’s last Plenary in May.
