We would like to thank everyone involved in our first ever PPN Summer School this week in DCU.
Many thanks to: Tadgh Jenkins, Barry Mulcahy, Helena McCanney, Rita Sharkey, Jane Last, Claire Bodie Flynn, Joanne Mulligan, Lorna Green, Deric O’Broin, Claire Minchin, Dr James Byrne and Elaine Metcalfe for their interesting, useful and enjoyable sessions.
Many thanks to Joanne Ozarowska for hosting us in DCU in the Community, in Ballymun, and to Mariana Coleman, from the Centre of Engaged Research, for organising our first PPN summer school.
Mariana is leaving the Centre for Engaged Research this week. We wish her all the best and we hope she stays in touch with the PPN through her work with An Taisce and the Latin American Solidarity Centre.
However, the biggest “thanks” go to all the participants who came along to the sessions every day. They shared their knowledge and experiences with grace, humour and generosity, and made our first ever summer school, magical.
Campaigns
ADT Ireland would like you to join their #addthe10th campaign.
This is a campaign to add “socio-economic discrimination” into Irish equality legislation in the Equal Status Act, and the Employment Equality Act. Currently, there are nine grounds for discrimination, and this is a campaign to #addthe10th
More on the campaign here, and if you would like to take a photo of yourself and post on Facebook or Twitter, using the hashtag #addthe10th and tagging @dublincityppn we will “re-post” and “re-tweet” and “like!”
Focus Ireland would like you to write to your TD to protect HAP households from risks of poverty and homelessness. You can send a pre-written letter to your TD, support the campaign, and find out more here.
Please share this information with your groups.
PPN Events
Last Thursday of the Month Member’s Meet-Up: 30 June (online)
Robert Moss, your climate action, environment, and energy SPC representative, will give a presentation on rainwater harvesting. Did you know that about 25% of domestic water usage goes down the loo? What if, we could use rainwater, to flush our toilets, instead of using treated water? How would that look, what would be the benefits, and how can we make a start? Come along to the zoom on 30 June to find out more, and network with other PPN groups and organisations. Email Ruth for the Zoom link.
This year’s Festival of Fundraising will take place from 26 September – 29 September and will be a mix of one-to-one fundraising clinics and workshops with Kevin Delaney of Academy Street Workshop. There will be an additional grant writing workshop, an intercultural fundraising session, and a live fundraiser for one organisation throughout the week. If you would like to be that organisation, and have time to meet for planning beforehand, please email Ruth to let her know you’re interested.
