The Lord Mayor of Dublin and Dublin City Council (DCC), invite you to four consultation sessions at the Mansion House, to discuss the steps needed for Dublin to become an “Autism Friendly City”. The second session is taking place on Tuesday 19 March from 3.00pm – 4.30pm in the Oak Room of Mansion House and you can register here
The PPN Host, Dublin City Volunteer Centre, are currently advertising two staff vacancies: one role is for a part time administrative assistant and one role is for a Vetting and Operations Coordinator. DCVC would be grateful if you could share these vacancies with the people in your groups and organisations.
The Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) have tasked S3 Solutions with researching into the Barriers to Involvement in Public Participation Networks. If you would like to hear more about the project, and participate in a workshop, please join a workshop here.
The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC), invite expressions of interest for SDG Champions Programme. The role of an SDG champion is to advocate and promote the SDGs, show how an organisation or group can contribute towards the SDGs, and share the learnings with other groups. This is an excellent opportunity for groups new to SDG work, or with enormous experience. Further details are here.
Dublin City Council (DCC) encourage you to look at the Liffey Cycle Route from George’s Quay to Aston Quay. The Liffey cycle route interim scheme from George’s Quay to Aston Quay is anticipated to commence construction in Q1 of 2024, and updates and drawings can be accessed here.
Dublin City Council (DCC) invite you to participate on its customer services public consultation panel, on 14 March from 9.30am – 12.30pm in Dublin City Council’s training rooms. The panel will be made up of 12 invitees from the PPN and senior staff from the customer services section. Refreshments provided and full details of how to register your interest here.
Dublin City Council’s Local Enhancement Programme 2024 grant, is now open for applications. The aim of the LEP 2024, is to support non-profits, community based and or voluntary sector organisations…who are seeking support with their capital costs. City of Dublin Reach Fund 2024 now open for applications: The City of Dublin ETB Reach Fund, 2024, is now open for applications. The aim of the Reach Fund 2024, is to provide support to educationally disadvantaged learners in accessing and participating in community education in Dublin City. Hugh Lane Gallery invite you to two events: “In the Dark” is a live audio play, which brings to life dramatic turning points in the lives of five people, who are blind or visually impaired. This show is produced by Sightless Cinema and is on 29 February from 7.00pm Also, the gallery are offering workshops with zine-maker, writer and story teller, Victory Nwabu-Ekeoma and artist Rema Hamid on Fridays from 3.00pm – 4.30pm, in the creative family zine-making series, “Make and Be” for Nigerian Irish families. Dublin City PPN will once again partner with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown PPN to offer member groups online support sessions with Carmichael. Please save the dates below – registration forms to follow.
21 March, 7.00pm – 9.00pm: understanding your purpose, how to write and update your constitution.
17 April, 10.30am – 11.30am: how to prevent your meeting from being railroaded! Handling conflict/conflicting points of view and agendas.
24 April, 10.30am – 11.30am: Breaking the cycle – how to encourage role rotation and more participation within a member group (including encouraging people to step down and to step up).
Updates from Representatives and Secretariat
The Secretariat of the PPN meets on the second Tuesday of the month. During the February meeting, the Secretariat agreed the January minutes, which you can read here.
In 2024, all Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) will be dissolved and re-convened, which means that all SPC seats will become vacant. If you are interested in housing, traffic, planning, the climate, culture and leisure or the economic development of Dublin City, you might like to sit on one of these SPCs in one of these areas: if you would like to learn more, why not come along to an information session on Thursday 07 March, from 7.00pm – 8.30pm to find out more.
