Dublin City Council (DCC) launched its Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) at St Patrick’s Cathedral on 13 November. Aiming to guide the sustainable economic and community development of Dublin City between 2024 – 2029, the new LECP covers a broad range of areas including health, wellbeing, inclusion, climate action, economic growth and education. Dublin City Council (DCC) is pleased to announce the launch of a pre-design public consultation for the College Green Dame Street Public Realm Project, currently in its initial concept and pre-design phase. The new design will prioritise universal accessibility, social inclusion, safety, sustainability, bio-diversity and greening: you can find out more here.
The HSE would like to share its national strategy to prevent suicide, with PPN member groups. Connecting for Life, is a cross sectoral strategy, with 69 actions under seven strategic goals. You can read more about Connecting for Life, here.
The Irish Environmental Network (IEN), invite you to read their November newsletter here. Of note to PPNs is the recorded webinar, called “What are SPCs and what do they do? Examples of action from PPN Representatives, tips, troubleshooting and supports”, which you can access here. The newsletter also offers the IEN’s election manifesto, and the election asks from the Irish Cycling Campaign.
AsIAm in partnership with Inclusion Ireland is delighted to host “General Hustings: Disability Priorities 2024” on Wednesday 27 November at 7.00pm, and you can register for this FREE zoom here. The husting will focus on the key issues impacting the disability community, in particular: education, housing, and social protection.
The Disability Federation of Ireland (DFI), invite electoral candidates to read their disability pledge here. The pledge states, “I pledge to prioritise disability in policy and legislation. I will promote inclusion, social cohesion, and ensure the full and equal participation of disabled people in my constituency and in communities across Ireland”.
The University of Limerick invite you to explore attitudes and experiences of adult Muslims, in the Republic of Ireland, regarding mental health, emotional well-being, and mental health support preferences. Please share this survey here.
Community Gardens Ireland invite PPN members to read their recent blog, called, “Community Gardens recognised in law for the first time!” This blog refers to the signing of the Planning and Development Bill, by President Higgins in October, and confirms that local authorities must consider allotments and community gardens in reference to the new Sustainable Places and Communities Strategies. Near FM invite you to an interactive and practical media skills workshop called, “Get your message across” for radio interviews. The session is taking place on Friday 13 December, from 1.00pm – 4.30pm and you can find out more here.

The Centre for Alternative Technology would like to share a survey with PPN members called: Can hemp help reduce Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions linked to the built environment and agricultural industry through carbon sequestration? You can access the survey here.
Updates from the Secretariat and Representatives
The PPN Secretariat met on the second Tuesday of November for their monthly meeting and agreed the minutes from the October meeting. You can access those minutes here. The PPN looks forward to ratifying the 2025 workplan at the Plenary on 21 November, and welcoming all the new PPN representatives to the team!
The PPN is delighted that our newly elected and re-elected PPN Representatives have begun their work on Dublin City Council committees. The first meeting of this council, took place on Monday 18 November, for the Housing and Social Inclusion Strategic Policy Committee (SPC), and you can access this meeting from the archive here. Your Housing and Social Inclusion SPC reps are: Mike Allen from Focus Ireland, Oisin O’Reilly from Outhouse and Sinead Murphy from Meeting Place Club.
