PPN Bulletin

Information

Many thanks to all those people who came along to the Plenary in the Mansion House, last week.  We will share a full update from the meeting, with a gallery of the official photographs, next week.

This week, many PPN representatives, Secretariat and member groups are at DCU’s Glasnevin campus enjoying the 4th annual PPN/DCU Summer School.  Already, participants have enjoyed sessions on social media, Artificial Intelligence, Sustainable Communities and a wonderful panel discussion with Jake Ryan from the Department of Rural and Community Development, Kelley Bermingham, Catherine O’Toole and Brian O’Dea.  A full update on the sessions and outcomes from the week, will also be included in next week’s Bulletin.

Events

Dublin City PPN is invited to an event called, “Building Community Resilience in Times of Emergency”, which is a brainstorming event to discuss how PPNs in general, can help during storms, outages, flooding, fires and pandemics.  All 31 PPNs from across the country will be attending this event.

The event is taking place at the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise on Thursday 17 July, from 10.00am – 4.00pm, and we would like to send 3 people from Dublin City PPN.  If you are interested in this session, work and are available on 17 July, please email Ruth on for further details.

Updates from the PPN Representatives and the PPN Secretariat

The best way to learn about the core work of the PPN, is to follow one of the meetings of the Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs), to find out what the PPN Representative is doing, on your behalf.

The next SPC meetings taking place are:

Climate Action and Urban Resilience on Wednesday 28 May at 11.30am

Your PPN Representatives on this committee are:

Ann Canning from the member group, Donore Project Consultative Forum, which is in the Community and Voluntary Pillar.

Áine Wellard from the member group, Terenure Community Support and Integration, which is in the Environment Pillar.

Mobility and Public Realm on Wednesday 28 May at 3.00pm

Your PPN Representatives on this committee are:

Dr Robbie Sinnott from the member group Voice of Vision Impairment, which is in the Social Inclusion Pillar.

Emmet O’Briain from the member group, Berkeley Road Area Residents Association, which is in the Community and Voluntary Pillar.

You can access the meetings live or from the archives here.

You can access your full list of Representatives here

The PPN pillar working groups are places where the PPN representatives will feed back to the wider PPN, and feed forward any concerns, comments or questions you have about policy issues and development, within the SPC areas.
