PPN Bulletin

General Information

Save the date:  The PPN Winter Networking Event (November Plenary) will be held at Wynn’s Hotel and online, on Thursday 19 November from 6.30pm – 8.30pm Registration open soon.

The Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht (DRCDG) have re-organised their landing page, on the gov.ie website.  Material is now more readily accessible as the page has a clearer more intuitive layout.  Links to media and events, training and support material and resources and publications, can all be found on the landing page.  Please share this with other people from your member groups and other networks here.

Dublin City Council (DCC) invite PPN member groups that are active in the south west inner city of Dublin to sign up to the southwest inner city community groups and services database mailing form here.  You will then automatically receive updates from this DCC area office.

TU Dublin invite PPN members to get involved in “Sidelines to Trylines,” a women’s only social touch rugby event, every Monday at 5.30pm on Pitch 4 at TU Dublin Grangegorman.  This is a fantastic opportunity for women to get active, meet new people, build confidence and have fun.  No previous rugby experience needed and you can register here.

Social Justice Ireland (SJI) invite PPN member groups to their Annual Policy Conference 2026: “Equal Futures:  no young person left behind”  You can read more about the conference content and register here.

There is an open consultation on the Sandymout Flood Alleviation Scheme from 29 October until 26 November and you can read more here.

Finally, we again repeat the statement from PPN member group, Voice of Vision Impairment about illegal fireworks in Dublin City at this time of year.  VVI said, “Apart from it being illegal for an individual to use fireworks in Ireland, fireworks cause distress for assistance dogs, including guide dogs, as well as their visually impaired owners. Assistance dogs cannot assist when they are frightened or anxious. In other words, when assistance dogs are petrified by fireworks, they cannot function as assistance dogs, and their visually impaired owner loses their independence, because they are forced to stay at home.  Please help us spread the word that a little consideration goes a long way. Enjoyment can be had without disrupting the lives of others. Enjoyment can be had without personal fireworks experiences”.

Training Supports

Dublin City Council (DCC) & Inchicore For All are hosting a training workshop for local voluntary groups on Developing Persuadable Narratives.   It’s run by the Hope & Courage Collective and focuses on how framing and messaging can help build inclusive narratives and navigate tricky conversations based on recent research. Inchicore Community and Sport Centre, Bulfin Road (D08 T9T7)   Wednesday, 11th November | 7:00pm – 9:30pm.  If you’d like to attend contact PPN staff who will connect you.
