PPN Bulletin

Information

The focus of the PPN is to help member groups participate more in local authority decision making, and to this end, there are 20 PPN representatives across 9 Dublin City Council committees.  One of the PPN Housing SPC representatives, Áine Wellard, has resigned, which leaves this seat open.  If you are interested in nominating or being nominated for this role, please find all the election news here.  Deadline for nominations is:  Monday 08 May 

We wish Áine all the best as she moves away from this role, but as she stays active in the PPN, and we hope to see her at events and training sessions soon.

Phizzfest – Phibsborough Community & Arts Festival is delighted to announce its 2023 programme in a three day series of events reflecting the cultural, social and artistic diversity of the D7 urban village.  60 events will take place spanning all ages and interests including music, film, theatre, local history, literature, waterways and family fun.

Applications for the City of Dublin ETB Reach Fund 2023 is now open.  The deadline for the application is 26 May, and there are two information sessions to help you with the applications.  You can find out more about the application process here.

The Community Wetlands Forum is organising a webinar with Clodagh Daly of Community Law and Mediation’s Centre for Environmental Justice on Thursday 4th May at 11am.  “Clodagh Daly is the manager of Community Law and Mediation’s Centre for Environmental Justice. She will speak about the community supports the centre provides, including free legal advice, training, and consultation supports.”  You can register to attend here.

DCU host a Volunteer Hub every Tuesday morning in the DCU in the community office in Ballymun.  The hub focuses on delivering volunteering advice, strategies, pathways, events and networking opportunities to local communities and organisations and you can find out more here.

Herbert Park Bowling Club are delighted to invite you to and Open Weekend of Bowls.  The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 6th and 7th, from 12 noon to 5.00 p.m. each day.  Participants are advised to wear runners or flat shoes, all equipment will be provided by the club (all free of charge).  Telephone:  086 737 8441 for further information.

National Volunteer Week 2023 is taking place from 15 May to 21 May and you can find out how to get involved and make the most of the week here.  Find out how Dublin City Volunteer Centre can help you make the most of this week, and how you can gain further organisational support from their team.

Independent Living Movement Ireland (ILMI) invite PPN members to a symposium on shifting the paradigm on mental health, on 31 May from 10.30 – 3.30pm.  Further details about the event and tickets here.

The Law Reform Commission has extended its deadline for submissions on the consultation paper on unincorporated associations extended to 15 May.  Further details here.

Community Law and Mediation invite you to a training session called; “Public Bodies Statutory Duty to Eliminate Discrimination, Promote Equality and Protect Human Rights of Staff and Service Users” on 18 May from 10.00am – 1.00pm online.  Email for further details.

TechFoundHer invite you to the first TechFoundHer Bootcamp, on 02 May at the Mansion House in Dublin.  This is a high energy day of workshops, led by Ireland’s top female founders and women in tech.

The Irish Hospice Foundation invite you to an in person public event for information on loss and grief for people bereaved through any circumstance on 17 May from 7.30pm – 9.00pm in AXIS Ballymun, and there is further information here.
