Information

Minister of State, for Community Development, Integration and Charities, Joe O’Brien has launched a public consultation to inform the development of a national strategy for migrant integration.  The closing date for a submission to this strategy is 30 November, and you can read more about the strategy here.

Dublin City Council invites all PPN Member Groups to get involved in this year’s “Inclusion and Integration Week” from 6 – 12 November.  Please register your events and activities on the link here.  Dublin City PPN will have an event for the Migrant Thematic Group and the Disability Thematic Group.  In addition, member group Connections Arts Centre invite you to celebrate Inclusion and Integration week at their Showcase Event, with Anne Rabbitte T.D, on Wednesday 08 November, from 9.30am – 11.30am at Connections Arts Centre, Rathgar Road, D6 (DO6 CF63) (This is an invite only event, so please email Miriam to register your interest on )

The National Economic and Social Council (NESC) is marking its 50th year with an event on Thursday 23 November, called “A Thriving Ireland:  Foundations and Actions.  You can find out more here.

AONTAS, the National Adult Learning Organisation, invite you to their upcoming, in-person workshop, which will focus on community education and getting engaged in politics in Ireland. Community Education & Political Participation Workshop, 08 November 2023, 10am to 1pm, Exchange House Ireland, Dublin City Centre (Light lunch provided) Click here to register for this workshop.

Trinity College Dublin (TCD) would like to invite PPN members to participate in three exciting projects. 

These projects are linked to civic education, democracy, and climate change, and they will host educational activities, funding opportunities, networking events and outreach programmes over the next two years.  Find out more about how to collaborate with these projects on the links above.

TU Dublin invites you to a seminar called “Innovations in Mobility and Regeneration” on 09 November from 4.30pm – 7.30pm at TU Dubin, Bolton Street.  A full programme of the seminar is here and the registration form for this FREE event is here

You are invited to the Saolta Showcase on 10 November at 2.00pm in Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise.  Full details of this event are here and if you would like to attend on behalf of Dublin City PPN, there is a FREE bus from Dublin to Portlaoise departing at 12.00pm from the Concern offices on Camden Street.

Tog Hackerspace invite you to their next Repair Café on Sunday 5 November from 12.00pm – 3.00pm at the Id8 Studio at the Digital Hup on Thomas Street.  Come along if you would like to fix something or…be a fixer!  Items to be fixed include:  clothes, toys, small electricals and small furniture – more information for you here.

PPN Updates from the Representatives and Secretariat

Gavan Woods and Martin Hoey attended a joint committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage on behalf of Dublin City PPN, to resume consideration of the Citizens’ Assembly report on the Directly Elected Mayor of Dublin.  The PPN is considering drafting a written submission to the joint committee and is putting together a working group.  If you would like to join this working group, please email Ruth.

In addition, we have the following PPN events and meetings.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our second Environmental Day with Aoife Munn and Stephen Rourke.  Our third Environmental Day, for member groups who are in the Environmental Pillar of the PPN will take place on Monday 27 November at the F2 Centre from 10.00am – 4.00pm

The morning workshop will be a wreath making workshop with Aoife Munn and after lunch, Stephen Rourke will facilitate a group discussion on the possibilities for the environmental pillar linkage group in 2024.

The next Planning and Urban Form linkage group meeting will take place on 29 November.  Stephen will facilitate another session to those interested in learning more about this particular linkage group.  Stephen would like to share this Position Paper ahead of this meeting, but you do not have to read it before you sign up to the meeting. 

The next Housing linkage group meeting will take place on 20 November, and again, Stephen has written a position paper, which you can access here.

The next PPN Plenary will be held on Thursday 30 November, from 6.30pm – 8.30pm in the Gresham Hotel.  Places are limited and registration will open soon.
