The next PPN Plenary will take place on Thursday 22 May, from 6.30pm – 8.30pm (venue to be confirmed).  Registrations will open at the end of April, but please save the date. Please email Ruth if your member group would like to provide the entertainment to open the event.

The PPN/DCU Summer School will take place between Monday 26 May to Thursday 29 May.  Once again, Dublin City PPN will partner with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown PPN, Fingal PPN, and DCU to deliver a week’s worth of in-person and online training sessions for all PPN member groups.  Topics to be covered this year, will include a panel discussion with the Department of Rural and Community Development, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training , AI, Policy and Social media training.  Registrations for these FREE sessions will open at the end of April, but please do save the date.

Remember, that any one from your member group can attend the sessions, so please do share the information with your groups and your networks.

Dublin City PPN Migrant/Minority Thematic Group will host an event to celebrate Dublin Learning City Festival on 09 April from 10.00am – 12.00pm You are welcome to come along to the session and learn about traditional Mongolian writing script, how to paint traditional Latvian symbols on stones and how to make Peruvian cookies.  Please email Ruth if you would like to join the MTG groups’ WhatsApp group, or if you would like further information about DCC’s Dublin Learning City Festival.

Dublin City Council (DCC) are pleased to announce that their Community Grants Scheme is open to groups and organisations across the city, that facilitate projects, events and activities to encourage social inclusion.  The scheme opened on 01 April and the deadline for applications is Friday 09 May, at 1.00pm

The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) would like to share its News and Events with PPN member groups, in particular, links to webinars and training sessions about how to use plain English.   You can find further details to these online, short courses here.

Fáilte Ireland would like to invite PPN members to a strategic consultation on 11 April in Amiens Street, for a full day’s event with refreshments provided.  This is to discuss a new neighbourhoods’ strategy for Dublin, and before they engage a consultant, they are organising a design-think-in workshop, to look at engagement in strategy development.  Please email Ruth for further details.

The HSE National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and Healthy Ireland launched their annual SunSmart campaign on 01 April.  For further details of the campaign, go here.  Please share this campaign with the people in your member groups and networks.

Cherry Orchard Community Centre invite you to “Her Resilience” evenings with resilient women as part of the Cherry Blossoms Community Festival, which feature a number of inspiring women, sharing their insights and experiences about formal and informal education, supporting employment for persons with disabilities.  You can access the Eventbrite page here.

PPN Training (and support)

Social Justice Ireland run an excellent online, self-paced course for anyone interested in the PPNs.  Modules covered are:  an introduction to the PPNs, local government budgets, PPNs and local government, effective participation in consultations, effective facilitation, strategic planning, measuring outcomes and impacts.  You can register for this FREE course here.

The next “New Members Meet-Up” will take place on the last Tuesday of the month, which is 29 April, from 7.00pm – 8.00pm This short online introductory session is meant to let new members know a little about the PPN’s structure, purpose, and activities.  Please email Siobhán to secure your spot if you would like to attend.

We offer these sessions on the last Tuesday of every month.

Updates from the PPN Representatives and Secretariat

Last night (01 April), the new Environment Pillar Working Group, met in Wynn’s Hotel to discuss updates from their committees, and plans for 2025.  This working group is open to any of the member groups from the Environment Pillar and you can check the 28 groups in this Pillar, in the Members’ Directory here.

Nominations are still open for the role of PPN Representative, from a Community and Voluntary Pillar member group for the Finance Strategic Policy Committee (SPC).  Further details of the nominations process here.
