The New Members’ Meet-Up sessions, on the last Tuesday of the month, are an online, one hour, FREE, information session about the Public Participation Network (PPN) for recently joined member groups of the network. The session covers the structure of the PPN, its main objectives, and potential for affecting change. The sessions (in their second year now), are targeted towards new member groups, however, older member groups are also welcome to join, if they would like a refresher, or if a new individual has joined their group. PPN Member Group, Smashing Times, invite other PPN member groups to its Irish Arts and Human Rights Festival from Friday 09 October to Sunday 18 October 2026, and you can read through the programme here.
PPN Member Group, Meeting Place Club invite you to the Greenview Allotments on the Tolka Valley Road on Thursday 24 September, from 10.00am onwards, to help finish the sensory experience in the gardens. Equipment, food, and music provided together with a team from Yahoo, and members of the Meeting Place Club, to create a suitable space in the garden for people from this PPN member group.
The Irish Hospice Foundation invite PPN member groups to get involved in a photovoice study, called “Through my eyes”. The IHF is conducting a photovoice project inviting adults with a life-limiting condition or receiving palliative care to take photographs that show their experiences and what matters most to them. HUGG, invite PPN member groups to join organised walks to lift mood, clear the mind, ease stress and take care of yourself in company with other people who have been bereaved by suicide. The next two dates and venues are, Sunday 27 September at St Anne’s Park and Bull Island from 10.30am, and Sunday 18 October for the Dodder Walk, from 10.30am – you can register here.
The National Public Libraries Open Day is Saturday 26 September, when PPN member groups are encouraged to visit local libraries, explore the wide range of free services, and discover the benefits of library membership. The Dublin Festival of History is taking place from 26 September to 11 October and offers a wide range of workshops, presentations, meetings and films. The Oral History Network Ireland (OHNI), invite you to an event on 29 September from 6.30pm – 7.30pm, at Pearse Street Library, where they will share some audio clips and testimonies from a range of projects, that bring history to life. Training Opportunities
The Dublin City PPN host, Dublin City Volunteer Centre (DCVC), invite PPN member groups to attend a session in their series of Autumn Training, called, “Building Inclusive Volunteer Programmes”. You can choose between in-person training on Tuesday 29 September or Wednesday 25 November, or online on Wednesday 28 October. If you would like general support for developing a volunteer programme, within your PPN member group, you can receive the following support from DCVC: planning and recruiting volunteers, day-to-day volunteer management, dealing with challenging situations, safeguarding and Garda Vetting services, from DCVC here.

The Community Heritage Grant Scheme is pleased to announce that Expressions of Interest for the 2027 scheme are now open. The scheme supports community and voluntary groups undertaking projects, that protect, conserve, celebrate, understand and share Ireland’s heritage. You can find out more here.
Eirgrid invite PPN member groups to participate in a consultation to ensure how the new community development fund will operate. In Phibsborough on 28 September here or Finglas on 14 October here. If you can’t attend an in-person workshop you can also complete the short online survey before 30 October.
Updates from the PPN Secretariat and Representatives
On Monday night the three PPN Representatives from the Housing and Social Inclusion SPC met with the two Representatives from the Finance SPC to discuss the recent motion raised by Cllr Conor Reddy to review the rent increases for DCC tenants decided earlier in 2026. Monday’s meeting was to discuss how and when PPN Representatives vote on committee motions, if/when PPN Representatives can be invited onto council sub-groups and working groups, and how to communicate this to the wider PPN.
