Events

The PPN staff were once again on the Lifeline radio programme on NearFM, with John Connell, this morning (Wednesday 13 May), promoting the PPN, the work of the PPN Representatives, and the range of events coming this May and June.

The PPN Summer Networking Event on Thursday 21 May at the Deanery Mews (St Patrick’s Close, St Patrick’s Cathedral), and online from 6.30pm – 8.30pm If you can only go to one PPN event this year, come along to this!  Please register here.

The PPN/DCU Summer School takes place at the Glasnevin Campus (and online) from Monday 25 May – Thursday 28 May.  This year the programme has sessions on Media Promotion, the Irish Political System, Disinformation, Conflict and Mediation, Policy making in Ireland and EU policy.  Find out more and register for the sessions here.

The PPN Disability Thematic Group invite you to mark #MakeWayDay with them and to celebrate Dublin City’s “A Thriving City for All Festival 2026” on 29 May from 9.30am – 12.30pm at Finglas Youth Resource Centre.  You can find out more about this inclusive event here.

The PPN Migrant/Minority Thematic Group had a wonderful day celebrating Latvian Independence Day on 03 May (full summary coming soon) and the MTG would like to invite all PPN members to drop by to Kilmainham Hospital to celebrate Africa Day on Sunday 17 May, where the MTG will be staffing a stand to promote the work of the PPN!

Coolock Library invite you to a meeting called, “Skills for life: business supports for aspiring entrepreneurs” on Thursday 28 May from 6.30pm – 7.30pm  This talk introduces aspiring entrepreneurs to the key business supports, organisations and funding options available in Ireland, helping them understand where to go for advice, financial assistance an guidance when starting a business.  This is a FREE event, but please register here.

SOAR invite member groups to promote their SOAR Summer Programme, QUEST, which is a 10-week wellbeing programme for young people aged between 13 – 18 in the Dublin 7 area, on Thursday afternoons from June to August.  Please share this link with your groups and networks.

Áine Evans, a master’s Student in Youth Development and Social Change in Utrecht University and a former volunteer with Family Carers Ireland, is looking for respondents for her thesis, in particular adults who grew up caring for a family member during childhood or adolescence.  Please share this link with anyone you think might be able to contribute to this important research.

Criative Dublin invite PPN members to a Brazilian craft market, art, fashion and music workshop on Sunday 31 May from 1.00pm – 6.00pm at the Generator Hostel, Smithfield Square, Dublin.  Further details about this fun event here.

Age friendly Ireland invites submissions for the 2026 Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement awards until the closing date of Friday 29 May.  There are ten categories and this year the awards will take place in the Limerick Strand Hotel on Thursday 08 October.  Further information about the awards here.

Funding

Rethink Ireland invite PPN member groups to apply for its Sustainability Step Up Fund.  This fund supports social innovations across Ireland to step up their impact and address the climate crisis and its interconnected challenges.  You can find out more about the fund, the criteria, deadline and applications process here.  There is an information session about the process on Tuesday 19 May online from 10.00am – 11.00am and/or send your questions about the fund and supports to

Updates from the PPN Representatives and Secretariat

The Housing and Social Inclusion Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) meeting took place on Monday 11 May, and the Economic Development and Enterprise SPC meeting took place on Tuesday 12 May.  You can access the meetings and notes here.  Each SPC has one or more PPN Representatives and you can meet many of them, at the PPN Summer Networking Meeting on 21 May at the Deanery Mews.

The Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) now has a dedicated webpage for all LCDCs across the country, and you can visit the page here. 

We are currently re-registering as many PPN member groups as we can, please reply to an email that is asking you to re-register, so that we can ensure our database is up-to-date and reliable.
