PPN Bulletin

Dublin City PPN has a new logo.  All member groups are welcome to use it and you can download all the assets and style guidelines in the resources section of our website.  We will be updating our logo on our site and social media channels soon, and if you have any questions, please let us know.

Dublin City Council are planning an event for Africa Day 2023 and would like input and suggestions and comments from PPN member groups.  If your group or organisation would like to get involved in this day, please email Ruth and we can meet up and make suggestions to the council, about how the day could be.

Joy Eniola, the Intercultural Development Coordinator for the NEIC programme office is trying to update their database of projects, programmes, organisations, and community groups that are open to people from culturally diverse backgrounds in and around the north inner-city area.  If you would like to register your group with her, please can you do so on this form here.

Dublin City Council would like to share information about its Dublin City Learning Festival, which will take place this year from 3 – 5April.  The festival will feature online and in person events from walking tours, talks, arts and crafts, workshops, exhibitions and more – if your group or organisation would like to host any of these activities you can sign up here.

The Department of Rural and Community Development would like to share two updates with the PPN members; please note that the DRCD have developed a “A Guide for Inclusive Community Engagement in Local Planning and Decision Making” and you can read this document here.  Meanwhile, Minister Donohoe launched a new public consultation forum to encourage members of the public and civil society organisations to submit their ideas for Ireland’s Open Government National Action Plan 2023 – 2025.  You can read more about this process here.

Killester Garden Village Committee would like to create a community garden in honour and recognition of the Irish WW1 ex-servicemen, who settled in the Killester Garden Village.  You can read more about the campaign and sign the petition here.

Wicklow PPN and the Law Reform Commission would like to share an information presentation they gave, in preparation for submissions on a consultation entitled, “Liability of Clubs, Societies and other Unincorporated Associations” and you can read this summary consultation paper, in plain English, here.  The presentation can be read here and the deadline for submissions is 15 May.

Local film maker Paul Woodward, has made a series of five new films about PPN member groups, and the first one is on the Member Spotlight section of our website here.  The second one is about the PPN Disability Thematic Group and you can watch this video here.

Rethink Ireland invite you to read and share information and apply for the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 2023 here.

The Response Project, from the University of Galway, would like to invite you to the “Respecting Persons with Disabilities’ Needs and Rights in Crisis and Emergency” Final Conference on 04 May, at the University of Galway and online.  Further details and a sign up form is here.

Training

Carmichael Ireland invite you to their workshop, Implementing a Strategic Plan on 30 March from 10.00am – 12.30pm

How do you move from launching your strategic plan to ensuring effective implementation?  This workshop will bring a mix of theory, best practice and practical steps on how to implement.  Further details here.

Updates from PPN Representatives and Secretariat

Last Thursday of the Month Members’ Meet-Up will take place on zoom from 7.00pm – 8.30pm on Thursday 30 March: all welcome.

The Migrant Thematic Group are going to host an event to celebrate World Book Day on 23 April.  Further details to follow.

The May Plenary will take place on 25 May, from 6.30pm – 8.30pm at Trinity Comprehensive School, Ballymun, and online:  please save the date.
