Information
The PPN migrant/minority thematic group (MTG), will once again have a stall at Africa Day at the Royal Kilmainham Hospital on Sunday 17 May. If you would like to help the group staff the stand, or else find out more about other 2026 activities of this PPN internal group, please get in touch with the PPN staff today. Currently the group is made up of 6 PPN member groups but is open to new member groups joining. You can read more about this internal PPN group on the website here.
The PPN disability thematic group (DTG), will once again be getting involved with Make Way Day, which is on the 29 May 2026. Make Way Day is a day of action, with people placing easy to “peel-off” stickers on obstacles they encounter during the day. These photos are shared on social media, to increase awareness of everyday actions that can make public spaces more accessible to everyone. Currently the group is made up of 5 member groups but is open to new member groups. You can read more about this internal PPN group on the website here.
Ballymun Community Law Centre (BCLC) invites PPN member groups (based in Ballymun) to a FREE workshop on 04 June, to learn practical ways of handling conflict more confidently. Whether it’s at home, at work, or with neighbours, conflict is a normal part of life. The good news is that there are simple skills, that can help make these situations easier to manage. Register here.
Capacity Building Training
If you want to learn more about the PPN, you can do one (or all) of the following.
Attend a “new members meet-up” online introduction session to the PPN, on the second Tuesday of the month. Email Ruth or Siobhán for the zoom link, and come along to learn about the PPN, meet other member groups, and find out how you can best get involved. This one-hour, online session is aimed at new members who have just joined the PPN, or “older” members who would like a refresher.
Read the PPN handbook (2020), which gives an overview of the PPN structures, funders, aims and overall objectives. The handbook can be downloaded from the PPN website here.
Attend a self-taught, self-managed online course about the PPN, with Social Justice Ireland. Learn all about the structures of the PPN, the links with local authority, the committees, and aims of the network. You can sign up to this FREE course here.
Updates from PPN Representatives and Secretariat
The PPN has six internal working groups, or sub-groups and these are:
The Migrant/Minority thematic group
The community and voluntary pillar working group
The social inclusion working pillar working group
The environmental pillar working group
The PPN advisory group
Each groups presents updates to the Secretariat, which meets on the last Tuesday of the month. You can catch up with Secretariat news on the website here.
If you would like any more information about any of these internal working groups, please contact Ruth or Siobhán and they will introduce you to the current members either on WhatsApp or email. Only the PPN advisory group is restricted to members who have served on council committees or the Secretariat.
You can subscribe to the Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) meetings you are interested in (for example, housing, planning, mobility and the public realm, economic development, finance, climate or culture) and you will be sent a reminder when the next meeting takes place. You can find the meetings here.
The PPN provides information and capacity building training and support, for PPN member groups, so that they might participate more in local authority decision making. If you would like more information about the council committees and themes being discussed, please contact the PPN staff today.
