Nominations

The PPN shares information and training opportunities so that PPN member groups might get more involved in local authority decision making.  To that end, we have 5 vacant PPN roles open for nominations: 3 on the Secretariat, 1 on the LCDC and 1 on the Planning and Urban Realm SPC – all from the Environment Pillar. Volunteer Ireland invite PPN member groups to the National Volunteer Management Conference on Tuesday 29 April in Athlone.  Further information here.

Cuán Association invite PPN member groups to get involved in their photography competition for residents of Dublin 8.  There are three categories:  nature, people and abstract.  Find out more and submit by emailing

The Charities Institute of Ireland (CII) invite PPN member groups to an online webinar, on Tuesday 28 April from 10.00am to 11.00am, called “Charity Excellence Awards 2026:  how to write a winning entry”.  Sign up for the FREE resource here.

The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration opened its 2026 Community Safety Fund on 13 April, application details here.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) invite PPN member groups to share information is about ways to reduce cancer here. 

The Working with Nature Awards recognise individuals, community groups and organisations across Ireland who are actively protecting, restoring and reconnecting people with nature.  The Awards Ceremony taking place on 2 July at Powerscourt Estate, more information here.

PPN Member groups are invited to the The Sean O’Casey Arts Festival’s performance of “Full Circle”, which is a sharp, honest two-voice piece exploring disability, identity, and the power of self-definition, on Wednesday 22 April, from 1.30pm at the Sean O’Casey Theatre.

The Wheel has launched a national survey to find out about skills and training needs of your organisation. Take the survey today.  As a token of appreciation, The Wheel will be giving away three free places on half-day workshops.

Re-think Ireland invite PPN member groups to complete a survey about the possibilities of using Artificial Intelligence (AI), to utilise AI effectively and responsibly.  Each person who completes the survey will be entered into a draw to win a 200 euro One4All voucher.  You can complete the survey here 

Social Justice Ireland (SJI), would like to find out more about the barriers that small community groups face, when trying to open a bank account, so that they can apply for and receive grants and funds.  Please complete this survey if you would like to share your experiences, thoughts and comments about banking, with SJI.

The European Spatial Planning Observation Network (ESPON) has commissioned a review of the Decarbonising Zones (DZs) in Ireland and would like to hear from Community and Voluntary groups, as part of their research.  Please complete this survey here by Friday 24 April, if you would like to add your PPN member groups thoughts and observations into this data collection tool.

Capacity Building Training

The 2026 PPN/DCU Summer School will be held at the DCU Glasnevin Campus, and online, from Monday 25 May to Thursday 28 May.  Registration for your FREE places will open soon.

Updates from PPN Representatives and Secretariat

Save the date:  the next Plenary will be on Thursday 21 May from 6.30pm – 8.30pm (registration opens soon).

The PPN Migrant/Minority thematic group (MTG) supports the Latvian Society in Ireland as it proudly announces its Latvian Culture Festival in Ireland on 03 May, from 12.00pm – 5.00pm at Meeting House Square.  This event will showcase performers from Estonia, Ukraine, Mongolia, African countries, Brazil, Peru and China and will be a place for dialogue and friendship among diverse communities in Ireland – come along if you want to meet the member groups that form the Migrant/Minority thematic group.

The PPN has nearly one-thousand-member groups in the network, and it’s from these groups that 20 PPN Representatives are nominated and elected to sit on Dublin City Council Committees.  You can subscribe to the Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) meetings you are interested in (for example, housing, planning, mobility and the public realm, economic development, finance, climate or culture) and you will be sent a reminder when the next meeting takes place.  You watch the meetings, and the PPN Representatives live, or from the archive here.
